The Understanding the Basics

1.   Shooter demonstrates shallow and deep depth of field by manipulating aperture and shutter speed.
This is a great example of a shallow depth of field
This is an example of something with a little bit larger depth of field.

Each image tells its own story, my eye is personally drawn to the to the top image. I feel like the more depth of field the more your eye is drawn to the subject. The subject in this case is the ring I want my audience to be drawn to the ring. Where as the bottom image I feel like your eye looks past the ring and looks at the blurry photo.

2.   The shooter captured motion by using a fast shutter speed compensating with an open aperture.

I had a fast shutter speed and a low aperture so I would make the background a little blurry.

3.   The shooter illustrated motion by using a slow shutter speed compensating with a closed aperture.

This shot I wanted to make the everything in focus to show were we were at. While capturing the girl in motion.
